The European Parliament has approved the decision to release €4 billion as the second part of the European Union's financial aid to Egypt. This decision came after almost nine months of discussions in various committees of the Parliament, including those focused on international trade, foreign affairs, and budgets.
Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, Egypt's Ambassador to the EU, praised the strong support for the decision. He explained that it was the result of continuous talks with European Parliament members and leaders, emphasizing Egypt's role in promoting peace and stability in the Middle East and Africa, as well as the strong partnership between Egypt and the EU.
Ambassador Abu Zeid also highlighted that this financial support is a sign of the shared interests between Egypt and the EU, strengthening their strategic partnership. The European Council is expected to vote on this decision soon, which will begin the process of releasing the funds.
This financial package is expected to help Egypt boost its economy, especially during challenging global and regional times, and assist in Egypt's ongoing economic reforms and development plans.
