Highlights from Macy’s 99th Thanksgiving Parade: Exciting New Floats and Balloons

Post by : Meena Hassan

Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade has captivated audiences for almost a century, and this year marks its 99th anniversary. Scheduled for Thursday, November 27, the parade promises an impressive lineup of vibrant floats, towering balloons, and popular culture icons.

A preview at Macy’s Parade Studio in Moonachie, N.J. showcased new attractions including Pop Mart’s Labubu and Mokoko depicted on an eye-catching float.

Brendan Kennedy, Macy’s Director of Creative Production, hinted at the arrival of a Stranger Things float, stating, “The Hawkins National Laboratory is making its way to the parade with an imposing eight-and-a-half-foot-tall Demogorgon. Stay alert!”

This year welcomes seven new floats to the streets: The Land of Glaciers, Wildlife & Wonder by Holland America Line, Brick-tastic Winter Mountain by The LEGO Group, Master Chocolatier Ballroom by Lindt, Upside Down Invasion: Stranger Things by Netflix, Friends-giving in POPCITY by Pop Mart, The Counting Sheep's Dream Generator by Serta, and The Littlest Float from Goldfish.

Kennedy noted the parade's deep connection with pop culture, remarking, “This reflects the current zeitgeist, and we constantly strive to elevate the overall experience of the parade.”

Five new giant balloons will make their debut, including Buzz Lightyear, PAC-MAN, Shrek’s Onion Carriage, Mario, and Derpy Tiger from Netflix’s K-Pop Demon Hunters. Adding to the spectacle, a Sussie balloonicle from K-Pop Demon Hunters will join the lively parade procession.

Labubu and Lacoco are set to make history as the first-ever 16-foot inflatable furry balloons in the history of Macy’s parade, showcasing the tradition's innovative spirit.
