Abu Dhabi, UAE – The Advanced Military Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul Centre (AMMROC) has taken a significant step in enhancing regional defence collaborations by signing three essential Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the Arab Organisation for Industrialisation (AOI) of Egypt.
The agreements were finalised at the UAE National Pavilion during the fourth edition of the International Defence Exhibition (EDEX 2025) in Cairo. Their primary goal is to strengthen joint capabilities in aircraft maintenance, engine support, and helicopter systems. The signing ceremony included notable figures such as Dr. Nasser Humaid Al Nuaimi, Secretary-General of Tawazun Council for Defence Enablement, and Mahmood Alhay Alhameli, Group CEO of Abu Dhabi Aviation.
Enhancing Aircraft Maintenance and Production
Through collaboration with AOI’s Aircraft Factory, AMMROC intends to elevate the production and marketing of components used in fixed-wing and unmanned aerial systems. This collaboration will see the alignment of production lines with AMMROC programs, the establishment of dedicated manufacturing areas, and implementation of rigorous testing protocols, with a key emphasis on knowledge transfer and training.
Advancing Engine Maintenance and Digital Manufacturing
The second MoU involves AOI’s Engine Factory and Digital Manufacturing Center. This partnership will focus on advanced maintenance, repair, and supply chain integration for engines. The agreement encompasses manufacturing crucial engine components and employing precision engineering techniques to enhance the operational lifespan of parts, while also utilizing digital manufacturing for improved production quality.
Upgrading Helicopter Systems
AMMROC has also entered into a third MoU with Helwan Factory for Advanced Industries, aimed at helicopter system maintenance and upgrades. It involves component servicing, structural modifications, and setting up dedicated workshops to support regional defence efforts, along with joint training initiatives to bolster local know-how.
Showcasing Innovations at EDEX 2025
During EDEX 2025, AMMROC showcased its MRO capabilities alongside F-16 and C-130 aircraft models, engaging with partners to discuss future ventures. The newly signed MoUs are reflective of AMMROC’s commitment to enhancing fleet readiness while developing advanced local capabilities and fostering international partnerships.
