Bollywood figures Farah Khan Ali and Nikitin Dheer have voiced strong objections against the paparazzi for their unfeeling and intrusive reporting during somber times involving veteran actors Dharmendra, Zarine Khan, and Jeetendra.
Their remarks, made on social media, have reignited discussions about ethics, compassion, and the limitations of celebrity journalism.
Nikitin Dheer Labels Paparazzi Actions as "Vulture-Like"
Having recently lost his father, actor Pankaj Dheer, Nikitin expressed shock at the paparazzi's actions during such a sensitive period.
He stated:
“I have recently suffered a profound loss and have witnessed firsthand the disgraceful behavior of the so-called paparazzi. It feels more like being surrounded by vultures than fellow human beings.”
Nikitin condemned the circulation of a video featuring Jeetendra, taken while he was in a vulnerable state, as nothing more than a ploy for engagement and views.
He added:
“The way they are acting when Shri Dharmendra is unwell is disheartening. Is it just about likes and views for us? Aise samay logon ka tamasha mat banao (Don’t turn people's struggles into a spectacle).”
He urged the public to recognize the anguish families endure amid illness or loss, even though he feels his words might fall on deaf ears.
Farah Khan Ali Reflects on Loss of Human Touch
Farah Khan Ali penned an emotional note, pointing out how some were more focused on questioning her mother, Zarine Khan’s cremation rather than offering condolences.
“My mother passed away 6 days ago, and some were more concerned about her choice of cremation than expressing sympathy. Dharm Uncle is in the hospital, but his family's private moments have gone viral.”
Farah challenged the public's capacity for compassion:
“Are we as a nation devoid of empathy? Don't public figures also have loved ones who feel pain? Where has our humanity gone?”
She cautioned those who judge others that everyone will experience sorrow at some point:
“When it’s your turn—trust me, it will be—others will also hurt you the way you have hurt us.”
Zarine Khan, wife of actor Sanjay Khan, passed away on November 7 at 81.
She is survived by her husband, daughters Sussanne, Farah, Simone Arora, and son Zayed.
Dharmendra was recently hospitalized at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai and has since been discharged after treatment.
During Zarine Khan’s prayer meet, actor Jeetendra experienced a fall, which was recorded and circulated widely.
The comments from Farah Khan Ali and Nikitin Dheer reflect the growing anxiety over the lack of boundaries in paparazzi culture. Social media users are in agreement, calling for greater sensitivity and respect for celebrities in times of personal hardship.
