Farah Khan Reflects on Marriage Challenges

Post by : Meena Hassan

Filmmaker and choreographer Farah Khan has recently shared insights about the initial hurdles she faced in her marriage with Shirish Kunder, highlighting how their differing personalities often resulted in conflicts during the early years.

Married since 2004, Farah opened up during a podcast hosted by tennis legend Sania Mirza. She noted that one significant issue arose when she pushed Shirish to join her at social events.

“People would ignore him and focus solely on me because of my greater success at that time. This made him feel uneasy,” Farah explained. She continued, “It's common for the world to focus on the more successful individual. I found it frustrating, and so did he. Eventually, we concluded that if he wasn’t comfortable mingling with certain crowds, he didn’t have to. His happiness and peace are paramount to me.”

Moreover, Farah discussed her preference for privacy in her personal life. She stated, “We are confident in our marriage and don’t feel the need for public displays of affection on the red carpet. More hand-holding in such settings often suggests underlying issues.”

Farah and Shirish first met in the early 2000s when he edited her debut film, Main Hoon Na. The couple has worked together on various projects, including Jaan-E-Mann, Om Shanti Om, and Tees Maar Khan. They have been married since 2004 and celebrated the arrival of triplets—Diva, Anya, and Czar—in 2008. Despite their fame, Farah cherishes her family's privacy and seldom shares images of them.

Her last directorial venture was the 2014 film Happy New Year. Recently, she has hosted Celebrity MasterChef and maintains a successful YouTube channel featuring cooking videos with chef Dileep.
