Fatima Bosch of Mexico has emerged victorious as Miss Universe 2025 during the spectacular finale in Thailand. The 25-year-old captured hearts worldwide, particularly after her poise under pressure during a contentious live stream with a pageant director, which led to a surge in her popularity.
She received her crown from last year's titleholder, Victoria Kjær Theilvig of Denmark. Thailand's Praveenar Singh was the first runner-up, followed closely by Venezuela's Stephany Abasali, with Ahtisa Manalo from the Philippines and Ivory Coast's Olivia Yacé rounding out the Top 5.
Hailing from Santiago de Teapa in Tabasco, Mexico, Fatima's achievement marks her as the first woman from this region to win the Miss Universe title. An alumna of Universidad Iberoamericana and Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti, she began her pageant journey in 2018 after winning the Flor de Oro crown. Fatima has bravely shared her experiences with ADHD and dyslexia, resonating with many young individuals who admire her forthrightness and self-assurance.
Prior to the finals, she was at the center of controversy when Miss Universe Thailand director Nawat Itsaragrisil publicly reprimanded her during a live-streamed meeting over promotional content concerns. While he later clarified his remarks, the situation prompted several contestants to stand in solidarity with Fatima, amplifying her international support and positioning her as a frontrunner.
This year’s competition showcased 120 entrants globally, including Nadeen Ayoub, the first woman to represent Palestine, who advanced to the Top 30. The event featured various rounds in swimwear, evening gown, and interviews, gradually whittling the contestants down to the final five.
In the crucial Q&A segment, contestants addressed global issues and their plans to empower girls. Fatima impressed judges with her poignant remark: “Embrace your authenticity. Your dreams and heart are valuable. Never allow anyone to undermine your worth.” Her sincere message and confident demeanor clinched her win, capturing admiration globally.
