Sarah Ferguson’s forthcoming children’s book titled Flora And Fern: Kindness Along The Way has been withdrawn from sale after multiple delays, as per industry analytics. Initially set for release on 9 October, it later appeared with a new release date of 20 November on Amazon, but now it has been entirely removed from the platform.
The title has been officially categorized as “withdrawn from sale” at the publisher's request. Neither Ferguson's representatives nor New Frontier Publishing has provided comments despite several inquiries for clarification.
This withdrawal occurs at a challenging juncture for Ferguson. Following her ex-husband, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, relinquishing the Duke of York title due to his involvement with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, she lost the use of her duchess title as well. Andrew has also lost his prince title.
Booksellers indicated last month that the launch date for Flora And Fern had been postponed without alternative scheduling, and no further announcements have been made since.
While no official rationale has been released regarding the withdrawal, experts in the publishing industry speculate it may be closely linked to the controversies engulfing Ferguson. One publishing specialist noted that the decision “makes total sense commercially,” arguing that it would be “poor timing” to release a book associated with Ferguson in the current climate. The publisher might opt to wait several months before reassessing the release, given that the content is not time-sensitive.
Concerns regarding Ferguson’s affiliation with other publishers have also arisen. A major publishing firm that has previously released her works refrained from discussing future collaborations, although her past titles remain available.
Furthermore, Ferguson and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor are reportedly vacating Windsor Royal Lodge. Andrew is expected to relocate to the King’s estate in Sandringham, though the destination of Ferguson remains unconfirmed. Some reports speculate she may move to Portugal to be with her daughter, Princess Eugenie, yet her representatives have declined to comment.
Ferguson is also facing renewed scrutiny over her prior connections with Epstein. In September, several charities severed ties with her after a 2011 email surfaced, in which she referred to Epstein as her “supreme friend” and seemed to apologize for past public criticism.
Despite these growing challenges, Ferguson remains active in various business pursuits and has a rich history of publishing, including children’s literature, non-fiction accounts of Queen Victoria, and her personal memoirs.
