The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) has confirmed that Mohammed Ben Sulayem has been re-elected as President for another four-year term. The decision was made after the General Assembly in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, approved his Presidential List, allowing him to continue leading the global motorsport and mobility federation. His re-election came after overseeing a period of strong renewal and stability since first taking office in 2021.
During his first term, Mohammed Ben Sulayem led major reforms aimed at improving governance, strengthening internal systems, and restoring the FIA’s financial health. Under his leadership, the federation moved from a €-24m loss in 2021 to a positive operating result of €4.7m in 2024, which is the strongest financial performance in almost a decade. The FIA has already forecast an operating result of €4.4m for 2025, showing continued growth and stability.
The improved financial position has allowed the FIA to increase long-term investments in Member Clubs and global development programmes. Over the past four years, the organisation has also adopted stronger audit systems, better budget controls, and modernised governance structures. These steps have raised the level of transparency, accountability, and professionalism within the federation, ensuring smoother and more efficient operations.
In addition to financial and administrative reforms, the FIA has strengthened its global identity in both motorsport and mobility. The organisation has expanded regional development activities, boosted support for grassroots motorsport, and worked closely with international partners on safety, sustainable mobility, and the future of transport. A new commercial function was also introduced to support long-term growth and global engagement.
After his re-election, Mohammed Ben Sulayem thanked all FIA Members for their trust and strong participation in the voting process. He said he remains committed to serving the FIA, its clubs, and its global community, promising to continue focusing on progress, unity, and development across all sectors. The election followed a transparent and democratic process, reflecting the strong collective voice of the federation’s worldwide membership.
