Riyadh Airport Experiences Delays and Cancellations on Friday

Riyadh Airport Experiences Delays and Cancellations on Friday

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh faced significant flight delays on Friday, affecting many domestic and international airlines. Large numbers of passengers reported long waits and congestion across terminals during the morning.

The airport said the disruptions were caused by multiple operational factors over the past two days. These included diverted flights from other airports to Riyadh and scheduled maintenance work on the airport’s fueling system, which affected normal operations.

As a result, several airlines experienced changes in flight schedules, including delays and cancellations. The airport urged passengers to contact their respective carriers before heading to the airport to confirm their flight status, which could help reduce congestion inside terminals.

Officials stressed that passenger safety remains the top priority. Operational teams are working around the clock, coordinating with airlines and authorities to restore normal operations as quickly as possible.

Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia) said a temporary technical issue at the airport disrupted operations, causing delays and cancellations for some flights. The airline confirmed it is working closely with Riyadh Airports Company to manage the situation and assist passengers.

Saudia also stated that affected travelers are being contacted through multiple channels and will not face fees for rebooking or itinerary changes. The airline advised all passengers to check their flight status before going to the airport to avoid inconvenience.
