Iconic artist Smokey Robinson is under scrutiny once again with fresh allegations of sexual assault from two former staff members, following a $50 million lawsuit filed by four women six months ago. The newcomers, referred to as John Doe 1 and Jane Doe 5, assert that Robinson attempted to coerce them into unwanted physical contact.
Jane Doe 5 reported ongoing harassment during her tenure as a housekeeper from 2005 to 2011, claiming he requested her to enter the bathroom while he was showering and to wash his back. Meanwhile, John Doe 1, who serviced the Robinsons' vehicles starting in 2013, described an encounter in which Robinson approached him wearing only underwear and exhibited inappropriate behavior, leading to feelings of humiliation, emotional distress, and persistent fear for his safety.
Both accusers indicated their eventual departure from their jobs was due to the harassment and a fear of potential retaliation, public embarrassment, and worries about their immigration status. These recent claims echo those in the initial lawsuit, featuring similar circumstances, timings, and actions.
Robinson’s attorney, Christopher Frost, refuted these allegations, labeling the lawsuit as “an organized avaricious campaign to extract money from an 85-year-old legend.” A hearing to discuss the amended complaint is set for January 6, 2026. Robinson is currently being investigated by the Special Victims Bureau for sexual assault.
