Fujairah Signs Energy and Mining Cooperation Deals with Morocco

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

The Fujairah Natural Resources Corporation (FNRC) and the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone (FOIZ) have signed important cooperation agreements with Morocco’s National Office of Hydrocarbons and Mines (ONHYM). The agreements were finalised during the Crans Montana Forum in Rabat, highlighting Fujairah’s growing focus on global partnerships in energy and mining.

FNRC–ONHYM Agreement on Minerals and Research

The agreement between FNRC and ONHYM targets scientific and technical collaboration in mineral exploration. It includes exchanging geological data, specialist training programs, and conducting joint research projects. The aim is to promote sustainable management of natural resources, ensuring long-term benefits for both Fujairah and Morocco.

Strategic Vision for Resource Management

Engineer Ali Mohammed Qasem, Director General of FNRC, explained that the partnership aligns with Fujairah’s strategic vision to strengthen regional and international cooperation in energy and mining. He emphasized that sharing technical expertise and knowledge through ONHYM would help advance sustainable resource management while supporting economic growth in both nations.

FOIZ–ONHYM Cooperation in Energy Sector

The agreement between FOIZ and ONHYM focuses on boosting collaboration in oil, gas, and renewable energy. It also covers sharing expertise in industrial technologies, infrastructure development, and improving efficiency and innovation in petroleum operations. This partnership is expected to enhance the capabilities of Fujairah’s energy sector.

Fujairah’s Energy Leadership

Captain Salem Al Afkham, Director General of FOIZ, said the deal reflects Fujairah’s efforts to strengthen its position as a global hub for oil storage and trade. He added that the collaboration with ONHYM demonstrates sustainable economic cooperation, driven by knowledge exchange, technological integration, and long-term strategic planning.

The two agreements are part of Fujairah’s broader plan to expand its international presence in energy, mining, and renewable energy markets. By building strong partnerships, the emirate aims to become a leading platform in the region for industrial development and innovation. Both nations are expected to benefit from shared expertise, advanced research, and sustainable economic growth.

These collaborations underline Fujairah’s ambition to grow as a major player in the global energy and mining industries. By partnering with international organizations like ONHYM, Fujairah can attract investment, enhance its industrial capabilities, and reinforce its role as a strategic hub for regional and global energy markets.
