Fushan Technology, a subsidiary of Foxconn based in Vietnam, is moving forward with plans for a substantial expansion as part of its effort to strengthen its position in the global electronics market. Recently, a document submitted to the environmental authority of Bac Ninh province has highlighted substantial upgrades taking place at the northern Vietnam facility.
This expansion will enable the factory to start manufacturing Xbox gaming devices and other electronic components, thereby bolstering Foxconn’s supply chain for international tech firms. Additionally, the initiative seeks to increase the production of mobile devices by an impressive 30 million units, raising the total annual output to an estimated 140 million units.
The submitted document further indicates plans to manufacture charging devices for smart rings—wearable technology that offers a blend of fitness tracking and smartwatch functionalities. The upgrade is already underway, with full-scale operations slated to commence by April next year.
Fushan Technology’s site has a rich industrial legacy, formerly serving as a manufacturing hub for Nokia and Microsoft mobile devices. The facility can also assemble up to 100,000 drones annually, demonstrating its versatile capabilities in high-demand technological sectors.
Having invested over $3.2 billion in Vietnam through 2024, Foxconn, a key supplier to major brands like Apple and Microsoft, has been continuously expanding its footprint in the country since entering the market in the 2000s, primarily in Bac Ninh and Bac Giang provinces.
