UFC 324 Main Event: Gaethje and Pimblett Battle for Lightweight Glory

Post by : Bianca Haleem

Las Vegas is gearing up for an electrifying UFC night as it ushers in a new era with Paramount+/CBS. UFC CEO Dana White unveiled during the NFL Thanksgiving halftime show that Justin Gaethje will face Paddy Pimblett for the interim Lightweight title at UFC 324 in the T-Mobile Arena.

Gaethje Pursues Second Interim Title

Currently, “Highlight” Gaethje (26-5) has put retirement talks on hold, embarking on a comeback journey after his knockout defeat to Max Holloway at UFC 300. A two-time title contender, Gaethje boasts a 3-1 record in his last four fights and previously secured the interim championship in 2020 against Tony Ferguson, making this bout crucial for his legacy.

Pimblett’s Quest for UFC Gold

Paddy “The Baddy” Pimblett (23-3) is stepping into the title frame with momentum, having just scored a third-round victory against Michael Chandler. With a flawless start of 7-0 in the UFC and a victory over Tony Ferguson recently, Pimblett is primed for his first championship opportunity. While fans have long discussed a bout with Topuria, the focus now shifts to Pimblett vs. Gaethje.

Women’s Bantamweight Bout: Harrison and Nunes

The co-main event serves up an exciting contest in women’s Bantamweight, featuring reigning champion Kayla Harrison (19-1) going up against former champion Amanda Nunes (23-5). Harrison, who has dominated her division, recently submitted Julianna Pena with a kimura. Meanwhile, Nunes returns from retirement, looking to claim a third Bantamweight title to solidify her storied career.

Additional Fights on the Card

UFC 324’s lineup also showcases Sean O’Malley vs. Song Yadong, Waldo Acosta-Cortez vs. Derrick Lewis, and Jean Silva vs. Arnold Allen. The blend of rising talents and seasoned athletes suggests an energy-packed evening in Las Vegas.

As this new chapter unfolds, the stakes are high, and the matchups are set to deliver thrilling narratives that could reshape the UFC landscape in 2026. Fans are eagerly counting down to what promises to be a remarkable kickoff for the year.
