GCC Leaders Acknowledge Saudi Arabia's Key Role in Peace Initiatives

During the 19th periodic meeting in Manama, Bahrain, leaders from Shura, representative, national, and Ummah councils of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations convened to discuss pressing regional and international matters. A central theme of their discussions was the significant diplomatic and humanitarian initiatives spearheaded by Saudi Arabia in recent months. Leading the Saudi delegation, Shura Council Speaker Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Al Al-Sheikh made a notable appearance at the gathering.

The GCC leaders expressed their sincere appreciation for the outcomes of the Gulf-U.S. Summit held by Saudi Arabia in May, underlining its role in enhancing collaboration between Gulf nations and the United States. They acknowledged that the summit discussions were foundational in fostering a more secure and stable regional environment. Furthermore, they recognized the Kingdom’s continuous efforts in promoting dialogue, security, and economic partnerships among Gulf states and international actors.

In their statements, the leaders also commended Saudi Arabia's ongoing diplomatic endeavors supporting the Palestinian cause. They highlighted the Kingdom's co-chairmanship of the High-Level International Conference aimed at the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, held in New York City in September. This conference was deemed a landmark moment as it reignited global attention towards achieving sustainable peace via the two-state solution, underscoring the world's commitment to justice for the Palestinian populace.

The legislative leaders of the GCC further applauded the ministerial committee, led by Saudi Arabia, formed during the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit to address Israeli aggressions against the Palestinian community. They observed that this committee has been instrumental in advocating for an end to violence, safeguarding civilians, and facilitating initial measures for Gaza's reconstruction. The leaders commended the Kingdom's steadfast and responsible leadership in these humanitarian and diplomatic pursuits.

Alongside acknowledging Saudi Arabia's efforts, the GCC leaders recognized the Arab ministerial committee led by Bahrain, aimed at advancing the recognition of the State of Palestine on global platforms. They urged for sustained action from this committee, emphasizing the necessity of continued international engagement for creating a just and enduring resolution for Palestine.

Concluding their statement, the GCC leaders congratulated Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, alongside the Saudi populace on securing the rights to host the FIFA World Cup 2034. They celebrated this achievement as a significant milestone for Saudi Arabia and a win for the broader Gulf region. Moreover, the leaders posited that this international event would bolster the region’s sporting infrastructure, tourism, and global presence.
