The GCC-EU Macro-Economic Dialogue held its 14th meeting at the European Commission headquarters in Brussels, bringing together senior officials and experts from both sides. The discussions focused on key economic topics, including economic diversification, stronger trade and investment ties, and cooperation to support a green transition toward sustainable growth.
The delegation from the GCC General Secretariat was led by Dr Abdulaziz bin Hamad Aluwaisheg, Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs and Negotiations. The European Union side was headed by Annika Eriksgård, Director for International Economic and Financial Relations and Global Governance. Officials and specialists from both regions took part in the talks.
During the meeting, participants exchanged views on current global and regional economic developments and explored ways to enhance economic cooperation between the GCC and the EU. The dialogue aimed to align shared priorities and identify practical steps to strengthen long-term partnerships.
Annika Eriksgård highlighted the importance of maintaining open and regular communication between the EU and the GCC. She said such meetings play a key role in building trust, supporting trade and investment, and encouraging closer collaboration on common economic goals.
Both sides agreed that continued dialogue is essential for addressing challenges and advancing sustainable and inclusive economic growth that benefits both regions.
