Gouri Kishan Addresses Bodyshaming Concerns at Film Promotion

During a promotional event for her film Others in Chennai, actress Gouri Kishan encountered bodyshaming from a journalist who inquired about her weight, referencing a scene where her male co-star lifts her. Gouri labeled the question as inappropriate and offensive.

She described the query as "stupid" and criticized the attitude as "a disgrace" to the journalistic profession. Gouri passionately urged that bodyshaming should never be accepted and questioned if such remarks would be directed towards a male actor in the same confrontational manner.

In a subsequent official statement, Gouri highlighted the ongoing issue of bodyshaming and unrealistic beauty standards within the industry. She acknowledged that while public scrutiny is part of her role, targeting someone’s body or appearance is unjustifiable.

Gouri also voiced disappointment about the lack of backing from her film team during the incident, questioning why she was left unsupported as the sole woman present. Her message urges a collective stand against bodyshaming and strives to combat this detrimental cycle.

This incident has raised essential conversations around gender bias and respect in media, drawing attention to the persistent challenge of unrealistic beauty ideals in the entertainment industry.
