Han Zheng Concludes Official Riyadh Visit

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

Chinese Vice President Han Zheng and his delegation completed an official trip to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, departing King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh after a programme of high-level meetings focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation.

Han Zheng was formally seen off by Deputy Governor of the Riyadh Region, Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz, alongside senior Saudi dignitaries, in a farewell that reflected the visit’s diplomatic significance.

Across a series of discussions, Han Zheng and Saudi officials examined ways to deepen ties in energy, trade, technology, culture and education, with both sides indicating plans to broaden collaboration in these areas.

Participants reviewed how future projects could align with Saudi Vision 2030 and China’s Belt and Road Initiative, pursuing joint efforts that support economic diversification and sustainable development.

Saudi-China economic relations remain strong: China is a major trading partner and key importer of Saudi oil, while cooperation is expanding into renewables, logistics, infrastructure and digital technologies.

Leaders also highlighted the value of cultural and educational links, discussing potential student exchanges, academic partnerships and shared cultural programmes to boost people-to-people ties.

Regional and international issues were on the agenda as well, with both sides expressing support for multilateral dialogue and coordinated actions to promote stability, peace and development.

Officials described the visit as productive and said its outcomes should facilitate further high-level engagement and joint initiatives aimed at encouraging investment, innovation and sustained growth.

Han Zheng’s departure closed a visit that Saudi and Chinese officials said reinforced mutual trust and set the stage for deeper strategic cooperation in the coming years.
