Hardik Pandya is enjoying an excellent run in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) this season as he continues to deliver strong and confident performances for Baroda. In the recent Elite Group C match against Punjab, he once again proved how valuable he is with both his skill and his calm approach under pressure. Hardik played a powerful unbeaten innings of 77 runs, guiding Baroda to an exciting seven-wicket win. His knock came from just 42 balls, showing his natural attacking style and his ability to read the situation perfectly. Throughout the match, he maintained great control while still playing with his trademark aggression.
One of the biggest highlights of this innings was the four huge sixes he smashed during his stay at the crease. But the very first six of his innings carried special importance. With that shot, Hardik reached an impressive and rare milestone in T20 cricket. He became only the second Indian cricketer to hit 300 or more sixes in T20 matches without scoring a century. This achievement makes him stand alongside former Indian captain MS Dhoni, who previously held this record alone.
So far, Hardik has played 309 T20 matches and batted in 268 innings. Even without scoring a hundred, he has managed to hit an incredible 303 sixes, showing how consistently he performs as a big-hitting finisher. His highest score in T20 cricket remains 91, yet he continues to be one of India’s most dependable power hitters in the shorter format. This milestone also highlights his strong impact on the game and his ability to change matches quickly with his explosive batting style.
MS Dhoni, who has also never scored a T20 century, remains ahead with 350 sixes in 355 innings. Dhoni has been one of the most successful and admired finishers in world cricket, and his record stood alone for many years. However, Hardik’s inclusion in this list shows his growing influence in the format. Dhoni will also get a chance to add to his tally when he returns to play for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2026 season. His participation will keep this interesting milestone alive as both players continue to be strong figures in Indian T20 history.
Hardik Pandya’s impressive performance in SMAT also sends a positive signal regarding his fitness. After facing a long injury phase, he has worked hard to regain his rhythm and strength. Reports confirm that he is now very close to full fitness, and his recent performances clearly reflect his improved form and confidence. This comes as great news for Indian cricket fans, as Hardik is expected to make his comeback to the national team in the upcoming T20 series against South Africa.
His strong batting, consistent mindset, and regained fitness make him a crucial player for India ahead of major tournaments. With his ability to contribute in multiple ways—batting, bowling, and leadership—Hardik continues to be an important part of India’s T20 setup.
In this ongoing domestic season, his performances are not only helping Baroda succeed but also boosting hopes for India’s future matches. Hardik’s return strengthens the team’s balance, and his new milestone only adds to the excitement around his comeback.
