It is widely known that Bollywood legends Hema Malini and Dharmendra live apart. Recently discharged from Breach Candy Hospital, Dharmendra resides with his first wife, Prakash Kaur, with whom he has four children, including actors Sunny and Bobby Deol.
On Tuesday, Hema Malini refuted rumors about the veteran actor’s demise. The 77-year-old actress and BJP MP spoke openly about her relationship with Dharmendra and their living arrangements in a past interview.
“I do not feel bad about it, nor am I saddened. I find happiness within myself. I have two children whom I have nurtured well. Dharmendra has always supported me. No couple prefers to live apart, but sometimes one must accept circumstances as they are,” Hema Malini stated in an interview with Lehren.
In her authorized biography, *Hema Malini: Beyond the Dream Girl,* penned by Ram Kamal Mukherjee, she also addressed her relationship with Prakash Kaur.
Hema mentioned that she and Prakash had encountered each other at social events earlier in her marriage to Dharmendra, but they never had any further interaction.
“I didn't want to burden anyone. I appreciate everything Dharmendra has done for me and my daughters. He fulfilled the role of a father, just like any father would. I find satisfaction in that,” she expressed in her book.
With daughters Esha Deol and Ahana Deol, Hema revealed her respect for Prakash Kaur.
“Even though I’ve never commented much about Prakash, I hold her in high esteem. My daughters also have respect for Dharmendra’s family. People are curious about my life, but it’s personal and not for public consumption,” she remarked.
Hema Malini and Dharmendra wed in 1980, despite Dharmendra already being married to Prakash Kaur, who he married six years before his acting debut in the 1960 film *Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere* at just 19 years old.
