Reed Bailey scored 21 points and led No. 25 Indiana to an 86-69 home victory over Kansas State on Tuesday night. Bailey played a key role at the free-throw line, hitting 13 of 15 attempts, helping the Hoosiers maintain control throughout the game.
Indiana managed to limit Kansas State’s star, P.J. Haggerty, who usually averages 28 points per game. Haggerty finished with only 16 points, shooting 7 of 17 from the field, and committed six turnovers. This defensive effort was a major reason for Indiana’s win.
Tayton Conerway contributed 19 points, while Lamar Wilkerson added 14 and Trent Sisley scored 12 for the Hoosiers. These performances provided the team with consistent scoring support alongside Bailey, keeping the momentum in Indiana’s favor.
Indiana jumped to an early 20-4 lead, with five different players scoring three-pointers. Despite 13 turnovers in the first half, Kansas State narrowed the gap to 26-24, but that would be the closest they came. Indiana quickly responded with a 13-3 run, taking a 39-27 lead into halftime.
After the break, Indiana continued its strong performance with a 10-2 run to push the lead to 49-29. The Hoosiers maintained their intensity and controlled the pace, preventing Kansas State from mounting any serious comeback.
For Kansas State, C.J. Jones scored 15 points and Nate Johnson added 13. Despite their efforts, the Wildcats could not keep up with Indiana’s offensive firepower and defensive pressure. Kansas State had previously averaged 92.8 points per game in their last six matches, but Indiana’s strategy successfully limited their scoring.
Indiana’s usual leading scorer, senior forward Tucker DeVries, who averages 19.2 points, had a tough night and scored just nine points. Despite this, the team’s collective performance was strong enough to secure a comfortable win.
Indiana displayed a combination of strong defense, accurate shooting, and teamwork to dominate Kansas State. Bailey’s free-throw accuracy, Conerway’s support, and a focused defensive plan on Haggerty proved decisive. The Hoosiers improved to 6-0 on the season, continuing their solid start.
Indiana’s win over Kansas State highlighted their ability to handle pressure and maintain consistency on both ends of the floor. With contributions from multiple players, including standout performances by Bailey and Conerway, the Hoosiers demonstrated that they can compete effectively and control the game against top-ranked opponents.
