Imran Khan Returns in Aamir Khan’s New Film Happy Patel Jasoos

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

Aamir Khan Productions surprised everyone by announcing their new film, Happy Patel: Khatranakh Jasoos, in a fun and unusual way. This movie marks the directorial debut of comedian Vir Das, who also plays the lead role alongside Mona Singh. But the biggest moment in the announcement video was the unexpected appearance of Imran Khan, making his much-awaited comeback after ten long years. His last film was Katti Batti in 2015, and after that he directed a short film in 2018.

The announcement video shows Aamir Khan and Vir Das in a serious conversation. Aamir seems upset and tells Vir Das that the film they planned was supposed to include action, romance and even a dance number. But Aamir feels that none of these elements are in the film that Vir Das made. Vir tries to defend himself, but Aamir calls the film a flop.

Suddenly, the audience walks out of a theatre and praises the movie. The viewers claim that the film has everything—action, romance and even a catchy item song. This twist shows that Aamir’s concerns were unnecessary, and sets a humorous tone for the film.

Towards the end of the video, Vir Das, Mona Singh and Imran Khan appear in their characters. The video also reveals the release date: 16 January 2026. Imran’s brief appearance created a huge buzz online because fans have been waiting for his return for years.

Imran Khan became popular for his charming roles in films like Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na, I Hate Luv Storys and Break Ke Baad. But after the poor performance of Katti Batti in 2015, he stepped away from films.

In April 2025, it was reported that he is shooting a new Netflix rom-com featuring Bhumi Pednekar. Journalist Rahul Raut even shared a clapboard photo confirming the project. The film is directed by Danish Aslam, who earlier worked with Imran in Break Ke Baad.

Imran recently spoke about his comeback, saying it is not about fame or pressure. Instead, he sees it as a “natural progression”, shaped by the changes in his personal life. He said he spent the last few years dealing with a divorce and focusing on emotional growth. These experiences helped him reconnect with acting and filmmaking.

Vir Das, known for films like Delhi Belly, Go Goa Gone and Badmaash Company, is stepping into direction for the first time. Interestingly, Delhi Belly was also produced by Aamir Khan and starred Imran Khan, making this new collaboration feel nostalgic for many fans.

While Vir Das plays the main character, Imran Khan appears in a special role. Mona Singh also brings depth and humour with her strong screen presence.

This film is expected to be filled with quirky humour, entertaining twists and a fresh storytelling style. With Aamir Khan Productions backing it, expectations are high.

Fans are especially excited because they get both—Vir Das’s new creative journey and Imran Khan’s long-awaited return to the big screen.

With the film releasing in early 2026, the excitement is only going to grow. For now, the fun announcement video has already won the internet and successfully built hype for one of the most interesting films of the coming years.
