Gangster Inderpreet Singh Gunned Down in Chandigarh's Sector 26

On Monday evening, Sector 26 in Chandigarh became a scene of violence as gangster Inderpreet Singh, known as Parry, was shot dead in a well-orchestrated, two-phase attack near Timber Market. CCTV footage captured the harrowing events: shots were first fired from inside his vehicle, followed by a secondary barrage from a pursuing Hyundai Creta.

The incident took place around 6:30 PM as Parry, driving his Kia with a companion, was ambushed just one kilometer from Kala Ghoda Club. Reports suggest that his passenger suddenly drew a firearm and fired, leaving five shell casings behind. Almost immediately, a white Hyundai Creta with several assailants unleashed six additional shots to ensure his demise.

Bystanders transported him to PGIMER, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival. Forensic teams noted multiple bullet impacts in the Kia, emphasizing the calculated nature of the attack.

A Criminal Record Spanning Years

In his mid-30s, Parry had amassed a significant criminal history in Punjab and Chandigarh, facing charges ranging from murder to illegal arms dealings. The son of a former Punjab Police officer, he was embroiled in notable cases such as the Kotkapura killings and various extortion operations throughout local hotels and clubs. In March 2022, authorities seized a Glock pistol and a U.S.-manufactured rifle during a raid on his residence linked to extortion crimes.

Underlying Gang Rivalries

Social media interactions post-incident suggested that the murder might be tied to escalating tensions within the Lawrence Bishnoi-Goldy Brar faction. Parry, who had previously been associated with Brar, reportedly shifted his loyalties amid growing conflicts. Earlier this year, Brar severed ties with the Bishnoi syndicate, intensifying existing rivalries. Analysts speculate that this assassination could be a part of an ongoing territorial battle, with warnings of potential reprisals for rival factions.

Law Enforcement Actions

In response, Chandigarh Police promptly secured borders with Mohali and Panchkula and initiated extensive searches. Teams from both the Crime Branch and Operations Cell are reviewing CCTV recordings and tracing the escape route of the Hyundai Creta, suspected to have employed a false license plate. Investigators are exploring every avenue, including inter-gang disputes and personal grievances.
