Indra and EDGE Establish Joint Venture in Spain for Advanced Munitions

Post by : Bianca Haleem

During the Dubai Airshow 2025, Indra Group and UAE's EDGE Group unveiled plans for a significant joint venture in Spain dedicated to the design, production, and maintenance of loitering munitions and advanced weaponry. This initiative is set to serve Spain as well as Europe and selected international markets, paving the way for augmented defense collaborations.

The memorandum of understanding was signed by Ángel Escribano, Executive President of Indra, José Vicente de Los Mozos, CEO of Indra, and Hamad Al Marar, Managing Director & CEO of EDGE. This agreement enhances both companies' capabilities, drawing on Indra's expanding industrial base in Spain and EDGE's proficiency in rapid weapons technology.

This joint venture aims to merge European engineering excellence with efficient manufacturing processes, delivering innovative solutions that enable military forces to effectively target elusive objectives while minimizing risks to high-value platforms. This initiative is expected to meet the increasing demand in defense sectors, particularly in territories pursuing autonomy in weapon systems.

This collaboration builds on the groundwork established by PULSE NOVA, a previous venture between Indra and EDGE in 2024 centered around radar technologies. The focus has now shifted to high-performance, exportable smart weapons and loitering munitions, highlighting the ambitions of both firms to reinforce their standing in Europe while exploring global market possibilities.

With Spain as its operational hub, this joint venture is poised to significantly influence Europe's defense landscape, amalgamating industrial capacity, technological advancements, and rapid deployment capabilities. Analysts emphasize that such alliances are increasingly essential in contemporary defense, balancing strategic independence with competitive market presence.
