International Men’s Day is the ideal opportunity to escape the daily grind and connect with close friends. Instead of the usual night out, many are opting for thrilling weekend excursions that promote relaxation and bonding while exploring fresh experiences. Singapore has quickly become a favorite destination for such short trips, boasting a rich blend of modern attractions, diverse cuisine, vibrant nightlife, and stunning landscapes. This guide lays out a straightforward and exhilarating 48-hour itinerary for a memorable boys’ trip in Singapore.

Singapore strikes the perfect chord between a novel travel experience and a nearby refuge. The city is known for its cleanliness, safety, delicious food, and plethora of activities catering to various interests. Whether your group prefers nature trails, street food, coffee shops, bars, or unique cultural experiences, Singapore offers something for everyone without haste.

The day typically begins at a leisurely pace, especially in charming areas like Joo Chiat, where the streets showcase vibrant heritage shophouses. Starting your morning with kaya toast and kopi provides a simple but enjoyable kick-off before the city comes alive. As the day progresses, expect a mix of laid-back and bustling activities, exploring neighborhoods, hawker centers, and cozy bars filled with character.

Day 1 – Morning Exploration at MacRitchie Reservoir

For an invigorating start, consider visiting MacRitchie Reservoir. Spanning over 2,000 hectares, this expansive reserve features protected forest in the Central Catchment Nature Reserve and offers scenic trails perfect for hiking and adventuring, complete with a suspension bridge overlooking the treetops.

The TreeTop Walk, a striking 250-meter bridge suspended 25 meters above the ground, offers breathtaking views of the canopy. Along the trails, visitors will hear chirping birds, savor the lush vegetation, and may even spot playful macaque monkeys. It’s an experience that combines physical activity with the beauty of nature as you navigate hills, boardwalks, steps, and bridges.

Trail Hours:

Prunus, Petai, Chemperai Loop: Daily, 7:00 am – 7:00 pm

TreeTop Walk:

Tuesday to Friday: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

Saturday and Sunday: 8:30 am – 5:00 pm

Post-hike, many opt to refuel with a hearty breakfast at Roti Prata House on Upper Thomson Road before continuing their day.

A Cultural Culinary Experience at Old Bibik’s Peranakan Kitchen

Later in the day, the group can head to Old Bibik’s Peranakan Kitchen located in Joo Chiat. Renowned for its authentic Peranakan or Nyonya cuisine, this restaurant perfectly merges Malay and Chinese culinary traditions. Each dish is crafted with local ingredients like lemongrass and galangal, delivering rich and aromatic flavors.

Standout selections include Ayam Buah Keluak, celebrated for its deep, earthy flavors, and Nyonya Laksa, a warm, coconut-based noodle soup featuring herbs, spices, and prawns. For those seeking a fulfilling yet uncomplicated meal, the Nyonya Bento Rice Set presents several traditional tastes in one delightful plate.

Hours:
Daily, 11:30 am – 9:30 pm

Location:
328 Joo Chiat Rd, #01-02, Singapore

Post-lunch, visitors can take a leisurely stroll to CATA Coffee for a specially curated brew to conclude a relaxing afternoon.

An Easygoing Experience Awaits

The beauty of a quick getaway to Singapore lies in how effortlessly each experience flows into another. With a mix of nature trails, cultural dining, bustling streets, and tranquil cafes, the city caters to every vibe. A boys’ trip here is not only enjoyable but also full of new discoveries.

As the day transitions, activities like vintage sidecar rides through Chinatown and Geylang, along with explorations of Singapore's dynamic nightlife and hidden bars, complete the evening adventure. This city encourages you to embrace spontaneity, crafting memories without the pressures of time.

In reflecting on International Men’s Day, this occasion stands out for fostering relationships and celebration; Singapore delivers excitement, vivacity, and a warm cultural ambiance—all within a quick 48-hour trip. This shows that the most meaningful journeys often don’t require extensive time but rather shared moments that linger long after returning home.
