Iran Claims Strikes on US Bases in Bahrain and Kuwait

Iran Claims Strikes on US Bases in Bahrain and Kuwait

Post by : Bianca Haleem

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed that it carried out missile and drone strikes against US military facilities in Bahrain and Kuwait under the third phase of its “Operation Nasr 2”.

The announcement was made by the IRGC on Tuesday local time and was broadcast through Iran’s state media outlet, Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB). The group said the attacks were launched in response to US strikes on Iranian military positions earlier the same day.

IRGC Claims Attack on Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain

According to the IRGC statement, Iranian forces targeted US military assets at Bahrain’s Sheikh Isa Air Base during a combined missile and drone operation.

The IRGC said its Navy and Aerospace Forces struck weapons and equipment storage facilities, along with parts of US aircraft and naval equipment located at the base.

The statement claimed that several storage areas linked to US military operations were destroyed during the attack.

Iran Claims Strike on US Drone Facility in Kuwait

The IRGC also stated that its forces targeted the MQ-9 drone deployment area at Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait.

According to the statement, the attack damaged or destroyed a number of drones stationed at the facility.

Iran said the operation was carried out as part of its response to what it described as US military attacks against Iranian coastal defence locations.

IRGC Warns of Continued Retaliation

The IRGC said its retaliatory actions would continue if US military operations against Iran continued.

In its statement, the group warned that further American attacks would lead to additional responses, saying Iran would continue its actions against what it called “aggressor forces”.

The IRGC also linked the ongoing military escalation to regional energy security, stating that continued US actions in the region could affect oil and gas exports and delay the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

US Announces Strikes on Iranian Military Infrastructure

Earlier, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said American forces had completed a series of coordinated strikes against Iranian military infrastructure.

CENTCOM said the operation concluded at 10:15 PM Eastern Time on July 13 after approximately five hours of military activity.

The US military stated that the strikes targeted locations in Bushehr, Chah Bahar, Jask, Konarak, Abu Musa and Bandar Abbas along Iran’s southern coastline.

US Says Operations Targeted Iranian Military Capabilities

According to CENTCOM, precision-guided weapons were used to target Iranian coastal defence systems, missile facilities, drone positions and naval capabilities.

The US military said the objective of the operation was to reduce Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping routes passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

CENTCOM also stated that more than 50,000 US military personnel remain deployed across the Middle East and that American forces continue to maintain a high level of readiness.

Gulf Region Tensions Escalate Further

The latest developments mark a further escalation in tensions between Iran and the United States, with the conflict expanding from strikes inside Iran to reported attacks involving US military facilities in Gulf countries.

The IRGC’s claims regarding the Bahrain and Kuwait strikes have been reported by Iranian state media, while the full extent of damage from the attacks remains linked to official statements from the involved sides.
