Kamini Kaushal, a stalwart of Indian cinema, passed away at the age of 98, prompting a heartfelt gathering in Mumbai to celebrate her life and contributions. The prayer meet brought together several notable figures from the film industry, including Jaya Bachchan and Waheeda Rehman, as they came to pay their respects. Social media captured moments of both legends at the event.
Jaya Bachchan was one of the early attendees, dressed in white and warmly receiving other guests. Waheeda Rehman soon followed, clad in a modest saree. Clips from the meet showcased the two icons engaging in a touching conversation. Actor Raza Murad was also present, adding to the poignant gathering. The atmosphere within the hall maintained a simple serenity, devoid of elaborate decorations and official speeches. Attendees quietly offered their condolences and reminisced about Kamini Kaushal’s significant contributions to the world of cinema.
Kamini Kaushal passed away on November 14 in Mumbai, with her last rites held at the Worli crematorium shortly thereafter, attended by close family.
Numerous celebrities expressed their sorrow across social platforms. Stars like Kareena Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor, Kiara Advani, Amitabh Bachchan, and Anupam Kher shared touching tributes, fondly recalling their experiences working with her in films such as Kabir Singh and Laal Singh Chaddha.
Kamini Kaushal's career began with filmmaker Chetan Anand’s Neecha Nagar (1946), which won the Palme d'Or at Cannes. Over her illustrious seven-decade career, she captivated audiences with stellar performances in films like Biraj Bahu, Shaheed, Arzoo, and Ziddi. After the 1990s, she took on occasional roles, including appearances in Chennai Express and Kabir Singh.
