England Star Jess Naz Out for Season After ACL Injury

England Star Jess Naz Out for Season After ACL Injury

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

England and Tottenham Hotspur forward Jess Naz has been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering a serious ACL injury. The 25-year-old was hurt during Spurs’ late win over Aston Villa on Sunday. She will now need surgery on her right knee to recover.

This is the second ACL injury of her career. Naz previously missed the entire 2019-20 Women's Super League season because she injured the ACL in her other knee. Her absence is a big blow for Tottenham, as she had started every WSL match for the team this season. She also has six England caps and was part of the national squad for recent matches against Brazil and Australia.

Naz is not the only England player dealing with this type of injury. Young players Michelle Agyemang and Katie Reid also suffered ACL injuries earlier in the season. Many experts and players are raising concerns about the heavy match schedule. Last month, England and Chelsea’s Keira Walsh urged football authorities to “listen to the players” and address the issue of fixture congestion, which she believes is linked to rising knee injuries.

Since the start of the WSL season, several players have been sidelined due to ACL damage, including Agyemang, Maite Oroz, Marie Höbinger, Manu Zinsberger, Sophie Roman Haug, Jill Baijings, Reid, and now Naz. The growing list highlights the need for better player welfare, safer schedules and improved injury prevention across women’s football. Fans and teams will now wait for updates as Naz begins her recovery journey, hoping she returns stronger for both club and England football.
