Countdown Initiated for Abu Dhabi 2026 Masters Games

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

The UAE is gearing up for a landmark sporting event — the Masters Games Abu Dhabi 2026. With less than 100 days left until it kicks off next February, the countdown has officially begun. On this significant occasion, His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Hamad Al-Kuwaiti, Chairman of the UAE Government’s Cyber Security Council, highlighted the importance of the Games as a key national event.

Dr. Al-Kuwaiti emphasized that this event will unite athletes and residents from various backgrounds to celebrate fitness, sports, and solidarity. He encouraged everyone in society to engage in the preparations through a dedicated application aimed at promoting health and participation.

As part of the initiative, Dr. Al-Kuwaiti revealed an innovative challenge aimed at combining sports with national pride: a collective effort to walk or run a distance equivalent to the space from Earth to Mars — about 54 million kilometers. This figure represents the UAE's 54th Union anniversary, celebrated in December.

This meaningful challenge embodies the UAE’s aspirations and ongoing efforts to achieve greatness in both human endeavors and space exploration. Each participant’s steps will be tracked via a mobile app, fostering community collaboration towards the goal.

Dr. Al-Kuwaiti highlighted that the challenge transcends sports; it promotes health, teamwork, and national cohesion. He stated that the active involvement of citizens and residents reflects the UAE’s commitment to sustainable health and a robust workforce, essential for advancing the nation.

He reiterated the importance of sports as a cornerstone of a healthy lifestyle, and the Masters Games are a vital reminder that physical activity is crucial for everyone. Through collective participation, the UAE can enhance social bonds and emphasize fitness in everyday life.

As a nation that hosts over 200 nationalities, Dr. Al-Kuwaiti urged everyone in the UAE to join in the Games and associated activities. He noted that such extensive engagement illustrates the UAE’s inclusivity, diversity, and dedication to unity among its residents.

By welcoming participants from diverse cultural backgrounds, the event will not only advocate health and sportsmanship but also showcase the UAE as a global hub of inclusiveness and harmony. The Masters Games will cater to athletes and non-athletes alike, ensuring it’s a motivating experience for all.

The Abu Dhabi 2026 Masters Games are set to commence in February 2026, featuring numerous sports events and community initiatives throughout the city. Participants of all ages and fitness levels will find opportunities to join in.

With the countdown underway, anticipation is surging nationwide. Schools, organizations, and communities are expected to engage in the step challenge and other fitness-related initiatives linked to the event. The organizers aim to cultivate a national movement that signifies the UAE’s commitment to health, unity, and continual progress.

In conclusion, Dr. Al-Kuwaiti urged all UAE residents to embrace the forthcoming activities, support local athletes, and take pride in the nation’s preparations for this momentous sporting event.
