The Jonas Brothers’ festive movie targets Joe head-on, quickly highlighting his tumultuous and public dating history. Released on November 14 via Disney+, this feature showcases Joe, Nick, and Kevin as they navigate a chaotic journey from London to New York, aiming for a timely Christmas homecoming.
While starting off light-hearted, the plot escalates. Santa, portrayed by Jesse Tyler Ferguson, casts a playful spell on them, believing they’ve lost their tight bond. Each misadventure is intentional, designed to spark discussions they’ve been avoiding.
Joe Jonas in the Limelight
As the brothers embrace the scenario, Joe becomes the prime target. The film is peppered with playful jabs, some subtle and others blatant. At one point, Kevin quips, “How many ‘connections’ have you had this month?” to which Nick adds, “Joe can’t count that high.”
During a heated exchange on the wrong Amsterdam train, Nick is called “uptight,” Kevin is referred to as “human cardboard,” and Joe gets labeled “lovable tramp.”
A Romantic Encounter and Honest Reflections
Joe’s storyline takes a turn when he meets Lucy, played by Chloe Bennet, a friend from his childhood. They explore Amsterdam, delving into discussions about their breakups.
Joe shares, “I’ve had my share of bad breakups too,” a statement that resonates given his recent divorce from Sophie Turner in 2024.
Lucy expresses her uncertainty about interacting with someone whose life is always under public scrutiny. Joe chuckles, “Yeah, that’s pretty much how it goes.” This fleeting moment captures some genuine emotion amidst the humor.
The ‘Womanizer’ Tag and a Joyful Resolution
Tensions flare when the brothers find themselves encircled by wolves. Joe challenges Nick, accusing him of being condescending and expressing how their relentless teasing has led him to feel like a “shallow womanizer.” He questions, “maybe I’m just this empty-headed guy my brothers label me as.”
In true holiday fashion, the film concludes with heartfelt reconciliations and festive decorations. Joe’s friends surprise him by inviting Lucy, leading him to reveal, “I was scared of falling for you and it all crashing down,” before they share a kiss with everyone watching.
