Abu Dhabi Health Data Services (ADHDS), part of the M42 group, has launched Jordan’s first Digital Health Centre, a virtual hospital connecting five remote hospitals to a central command centre in Alsalt, west-central Jordan. The initiative represents a major step in transforming healthcare access through digital technology.
Partnership and Vision
The project is part of a broader collaboration between G42's Presight, the Jordanian Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship. The partnership aims to advance Jordan’s healthcare digital transformation and demonstrates the impact of public-private cooperation in delivering innovative medical services.
Telehealth Services Revolution
The Digital Health Centre offers three key services: Tele-ICU, Tele-dialysis, and Tele-radiology. Diagnostic imaging reports, which previously took up to 14 days, are now delivered in under two days, reducing turnaround time by 86 percent. This advancement allows faster diagnosis and treatment for patients across the Kingdom.
Expanded Patient Care
Six nephrologists who once traveled to 32 hospitals can now provide care virtually to five times more patients using the tele-dialysis service. This digital approach reduces costs, travel time, and logistical challenges while increasing the number of patients who receive specialized care.
Real-Time Monitoring and AI Support
Through Tele-ICU, patients’ vital signs are streamed in real time to specialist teams in Alsalt city. AI-powered triage alerts help identify urgent cases immediately, enabling continuous monitoring without the need to transfer patients to the capital, improving patient outcomes and healthcare efficiency.
Government Support and Strategic Importance
Eng. Sami Smeirat, Jordan’s Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, stated that the centre is a strategic milestone in the country’s digital healthcare transformation. Dr. Ibrahim Al-Budour, Jordan’s Minister of Health, emphasized that the virtual hospital ensures every Jordanian can access high-quality care, anytime and anywhere.
Statements from M42 and Presight Leaders
Kareem Shahin, CEO of M42’s Digital Health Solutions platform, highlighted that the initiative improves access, efficiently meets care needs, and opens new possibilities for comprehensive health services. Dr. Adel AlSharji, COO at Presight, stated that the project harnesses AI to enhance lifelong human advancement, reflecting their mission in action.
Impact on Healthcare in Jordan
The Jordan Digital Health Centre is set to significantly improve patient care delivery, reduce delays in diagnosis, expand specialist services, and integrate AI technology into everyday healthcare practices. It sets a benchmark for digital health innovation in the Middle East and demonstrates the benefits of technology in enhancing public health.
