Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood plans to continue playing international cricket in all formats, even after missing the entire Ashes series due to injury. At 34, Hazlewood was among several Australian players nearing the later stages of their Test careers.
Hazlewood was ruled out because of a hamstring injury just before the series, and later faced an Achilles problem while returning to bowling with the squad. Despite these setbacks, he remains determined to represent Australia with both red ball and white ball cricket.
“Absolutely. My body still feels strong. Small issues come and go, but I want to play all three formats as best as I can,” Hazlewood told Sydney’s Daily Telegraph. He added that missing occasional games is normal, and the challenge of preparing for different formats keeps his cricket fresh and exciting.
Having missed the last three Ashes Tests, Hazlewood is now focusing on recovering fully and getting match fit for Australia’s upcoming T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka early next year. He noted that returning mid-series after injury can leave a player vulnerable, and full preparation is essential to perform at the highest level.
Hazlewood explained, “Every day you’re not bowling is another day you have to work to get back to your best. It’s easier once you have consistent practice and good work under your belt.”
The experienced pacer’s determination highlights his commitment to Australian cricket, aiming to contribute across all formats and support the team in major upcoming tournaments.
