Renowned filmmaker Karan Johar expressed his enthusiasm for the NYC screening of India’s Oscar contender, Homebound, an event hosted by the iconic Martin Scorsese.
On Instagram, Johar shared his appreciation for Scorsese and emphasized the importance of this milestone. The screening also featured the film's lead cast and director Neeraj Ghaywan.
In his Instagram message, Karan Johar stated, "Taking our story of #Homebound across the continents and seas has been the most surreal journey...and this is another chapter of it! Our NYC screening hosted by our executive producer @martinscorsese_ was a night filled with friends and more supporting with their full heart. Thank you!!! This means everything to us, showing up and giving us your love. I am bummed to be missing out but I feel absolutely whole knowing that our film is getting everything it needs."
Directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, Homebound narrates the tale of two childhood friends from a small North Indian village seeking police jobs that promise them the recognition they have long sought. Yet, as they near their aspirations, tension begins to test the bond they have nurtured.
Featuring Janhvi Kapoor in a principal role, the film has garnered international acclaim, showcased at esteemed festivals such as the Cannes Film Festival 2025, Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), and the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM).
