Actress Kim Chiu has initiated legal proceedings against her sister, Lakambini Chiu, by filing a qualified theft complaint after uncovering significant financial discrepancies in their joint business venture.
On Tuesday, Dec. 2, accompanied by her legal counsel, Kim lodged the complaint at the Quezon City prosecutor’s office. Images from the incident capture her making a sworn statement at the Department of Justice building.
In an emotional declaration, Kim revealed that this decision was one of the most difficult she has faced. She pointed out that months of deliberation led her to this point, stressing the need to protect her business and the jobs of those associated with it.
Details about the nature of the complaint and the specific business in question have yet to be disclosed by her legal representatives.
The tension between the sisters had surfaced earlier this year, as fans noted their decision to unfollow each other on social media amid rumors of a conflict regarding their business. In 2023, Lakambini acknowledged Kim publicly for her support during a personal health crisis, reflecting their previously close relationship.
