Lebanese security services have recovered a Kuwaiti national who was kidnapped earlier this month, arresting three individuals linked to the abduction and confiscating the vehicle used by the perpetrators.
The Lebanese Army said the Directorate of Intelligence executed the operation in the Saadnayel district of Zahle in eastern Lebanon following days of surveillance and targeted tracking. The Kuwaiti citizen, taken on November 1, was located and returned unharmed.
Authorities reported that during the arrests one suspect opened fire at intelligence personnel, prompting a controlled response from security forces. Officials stressed that despite the exchange, there were no injuries. The detainees — two Lebanese and one Syrian — and the seized vehicle were transferred to the judiciary for further proceedings.
Officials described the raid as part of stepped-up efforts in Lebanon to tackle organized crime and protect foreign residents. Investigations are continuing to establish whether the suspects operated within a wider kidnapping ring.
The case aligns with a wider regional pattern where swift intelligence-led interventions have been decisive in preventing major abductions and enhancing public security.
