New Directors Appointed at Sharjah University of the Arts

Post by : Bianca Haleem

The arts education sector in Sharjah is poised for a transformative phase as His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has made a significant administrative move by appointing new directors for the academies at the University of the Arts Sharjah.

Stepping into the role at the Academy of Performing Arts is Dr. Peter Barlow, a notable figure in performing arts. With extensive experience in theatre, music, and dance education, he aims to enhance the academy’s curriculum and open up global artistic avenues for students.

On the other hand, Dr. Nadia Mahdi Al Hassni, a renowned visual artist, will oversee the Academy of Visual Arts. Her background in painting and contemporary art practices is set to foster a rich and innovative atmosphere for students to develop their artistic abilities.

These strategic appointments highlight Sharjah’s dedication to delivering top-notch education and nurturing creativity among emerging artists. Both academies are geared towards providing an inclusive space for students to excel while contributing to the cultural landscape of the UAE.

This shift in leadership at the University of the Arts Sharjah solidifies its status as a premier center for arts education in the region, emphasizing collaboration and excellence in both the performing and visual arts.
