Addabbo Wins First Pro Title After Strong PGA Aroeira Showing

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

The opening event of the new MENA Golf Tour season came to a memorable end at PGA Aroeira in Portugal, where Italian golfer Ludovico Addabbo delivered an outstanding performance to win his first-ever professional title. His brilliant 18-under par total helped him finish three shots ahead of Portugal’s Pedro Figueiredo, who was strongly supported by the home crowd.

Addabbo’s win was not only a major step in his golfing journey but also earned him the top prize of $18,000 from the total $100,000 prize fund. It was a moment of pride for the young Italian, who had shown confidence and consistency throughout the three-day tournament.

From the very first day, Addabbo looked in control. He shared the lead with Scotland’s Sebastian Sandin after the opening round, proving he was ready to challenge for the top position. On the second day, he pushed ahead and became the outright leader. By the time the final round began, he carried both form and momentum. He kept his calm, played smart shots, and maintained steady control, which eventually led him to a well-deserved victory. His strong play across all three days made him the golfer to watch, and he lived up to that expectation with a powerful finish.

This tournament, known as the PGA Aroeira Challenge, is the first of 12 events in this year’s MENA Golf Tour calendar. Every event offers Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) points along with a $100,000 prize purse. With such rewards, the series attracts rising players from all over the world, making each event an important opportunity for golfers looking to improve their ranking and gain professional experience.

The next event on the schedule will also take place in Portugal—the Rolear Algarve Classic—which will be held from 2–4 December at the popular Amendoeira course. Players who competed at Aroeira will now shift their focus there, hoping to continue their strong performances or bounce back after a slow start.

Once the two Portuguese events conclude, the Tour will travel to Egypt for four tournaments scheduled in January and February. The Egypt leg is an important mid-season stage, as the competitions there draw bigger fields and offer more chances for golfers to move up in the rankings.

After Egypt, the Tour will head to Morocco. A special event called the Q-Sprint will be played on 22–23 February. This event is designed to give additional players a chance to qualify for the Tour or improve their category ranking. This means more young golfers can enter the season, and existing players can strengthen their position.

With his win, Addabbo has now established himself as one of the promising names to follow this season. His calm attitude, focused playing style, and strong performance across three days show that he is capable of making a big impact on the Tour. The victory also gives him confidence as he prepares for the upcoming tournaments.

As the MENA Golf Tour continues, fans and players alike will be watching to see whether Addabbo can maintain this impressive form. His first professional win is a special achievement, but it may be just the beginning of a much bigger journey in his golfing career.
