Madhuri Dixit Takes on a Gripping Role in Mrs Deshpande

Post by : Meena Hassan

The iconic Bollywood star Madhuri Dixit is making a striking return to television with the highly anticipated JioHotstar series ‘Mrs Deshpande’. Recently, she piqued fan interest by unveiling a short yet impactful teaser that hints at a shocking turn of events.

In the 20-second teaser, Madhuri is shown shedding her jewelry and makeup, only for the scene to abruptly transition to her clad in a prison uniform, sporting a cryptic, confident grin. This teaser unveils her daring portrayal as a menacing serial killer, marking one of the grimmest roles in her illustrious career.

Previously, Madhuri stirred curiosity with an enigmatic social media post featuring reimagined lyrics from her unforgettable hits, including “Ek Do Teen Chaar Paanch Cheh Saath Aath” and “Bholi si surat, ankhon mein masti”, accompanied by a caption reading “Coming soon.” Fans quickly speculated about significant news on the horizon.

Directed by Nagesh Kukunoor, the series is an official remake of the French thriller ‘La Mante’. It revolves around a serial killer who agrees to assist the police in apprehending a copycat killer, contingent on the condition that she collaborates solely with her estranged son, leading to a fraught, emotional, and psychologically complex dynamic.

At the IIFA Awards earlier this year, Madhuri spoke about the role, saying: “There’s no deliberate effort, but this opportunity came my way, and I knew immediately it was something I wanted to explore. It reveals a different facet of me, and I’m eager to take it on.”

Though the release date for ‘Mrs Deshpande’ remains under wraps, fans are anxiously looking forward to witnessing Madhuri Dixit in this exciting and darker avatar, offering a stark contrast to her previous roles.
