Mahindra has officially unveiled the XEV 9S, its largest electric SUV to date, as part of India’s vibrant electric vehicle landscape. This seven-seater SUV promises spaciousness, robustness, and cutting-edge technology, making it an ideal choice for families in search of comfort and modern features.
Launched in Bengaluru, the XEV 9S is developed on Mahindra’s proprietary INGLO electric platform and will be available in six different variants, starting at ₹19.95 lakh. Customers can begin booking on 14 January 2026, with delivery set to commence shortly thereafter on 23 January 2026. The SUV boasts a 70 kWh battery option, while the most advanced variant, the 79 kWh Pack Three Above, is priced at ₹29.45 lakh (ex-showroom).
Mahindra positions the XEV 9S as a versatile electric vehicle, appealing to both eco-conscious buyers and those looking for an alternative to traditional SUVs. The interior is crafted for comfort and adaptability, featuring a three-row configuration that makes it family-friendly. It offers an impressive cabin space of 4,076 litres in the first two rows, alongside a generous 527-litre boot and an additional 150-litre front trunk, a standout feature in this category.
R Velusamy, President of Mahindra’s Automotive Business, emphasized the SUV’s fusion of technology with comfort, noting the MAIA intelligent system which facilitates many innovative features for a tranquil and smooth drive. Additionally, Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO of Mahindra Automotive Division, remarked that the XEV 9S redefines the electric vehicle sector by merging spaciousness, advanced technology, and efficiency to broaden the electric mobility landscape in India. Pratap Bose, Chief Design Officer, highlighted the design’s focus on creating a personal sanctuary with a nod to modern Indian aesthetics.
On the performance front, the XEV 9S is powered by high-tech LFP batteries, providing options of 70 kWh or 79 kWh with a real-world driving range of up to 500 km. It can generate a powerful 210 kW and 380 Nm of torque, allowing for a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in just 7 seconds, with a top speed reaching 202 km/h. Quick DC charging can boost the battery from 20% to 80% in about 20 minutes. Its suspension system features intelligent adaptive dampers combined with a five-link rear arrangement for an enjoyable driving experience.
The XEV 9S comes equipped with over 140 connected functionalities, including digital key technology, customizable user profiles, live security updates, and a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) system for in-car entertainment. Higher-end variants feature Qualcomm’s 8295 chipset, dual wireless chargers, and AutoPark Assist. Safety remains a top priority, with features like up to seven airbags, Level 2+ ADAS boasting five radars and one camera, a driver monitoring system, 360-degree cameras, blind spot detection, and a robust body structure.
Inside the SUV, you will find ventilated seating across the first and second rows, a powered boss mode, adjustable second-row seating, dual-zone climate control, privacy screens, lounge tables, and specialized climate modes for pets and cargo. A panoramic skyroof and large dashboard displays enhance the premium interior vibe, complemented by high-quality materials and a serene cabin environment thanks to acoustic laminated windows.
With the launch of the XEV 9S, Mahindra aims to blend space, comfort, advanced technology, and performance into a standout electric SUV, positioning itself strongly in India’s competitive EV arena. Test drives will be available from 5 January 2026, with bookings opening on 14 January and deliveries following on 23 January 2026.
