Tamil Actress Manya Anand Exposes Casting Couch Practices

Post by : Meena Hassan

Tamil actress Manya Anand recently opened up about a troubling experience in the film industry, alleging that Sreyas, the manager of renowned actor Dhanush, attempted to exploit her through casting couch practices. In a revealing interview, she recounted how Sreyas reached out regarding a film project but quickly made an inappropriate suggestion.

Manya stated that Sreyas hinted at a quid pro quo, saying, “There is commitment (adjustment),” implying she needed to offer something beyond her professional skills to be considered for the role. She vocally challenged him, questioning, “What commitment? Why should I give commitment?” She firmly refused to entertain any unethical demands.

Despite her clear rejection, Manya alleged that Sreyas continued to pressure her, asking, “You won’t comply even if it’s Dhanush sir?” He reportedly persisted, contacting her multiple times. Additionally, he provided her with the address of Dhanush’s production house, Wunderbar Films, and sent her the project script. Manya explained that she didn’t read the script and had no desire to participate in the film.

She underscored the overarching issue, stating, “We’re artists. We’re involved in other work. You take it from us but don’t expect anything more in return. If we yield to these demands, we’d be labeled differently. It’s essential for people to recognize this trend and address it appropriately.”

To add to the seriousness of her claims, she revealed that another manager had approached her with similar inappropriate requests for the same project, highlighting a concerning trend within the industry. Manya stressed that artists should never be coerced into compromising situations masked as professional opportunities.
