Mastiii 4 Debuts Softly, Outperforming 120 Bahadur on Opening Day

Mastiii 4 Debuts Softly, Outperforming 120 Bahadur on Opening Day

Post by : Meena Hassan

On November 21, Mastiii 4, starring Vivek Oberoi, Aftab Shivdasani, and Riteish Deshmukh, premiered in theatres, registering a modest response across different regions. This latest entry in one of Bollywood’s well-known adult comedy series faced challenges with weak advance ticket sales, paralleling the lack of pre-release enthusiasm for its competitor, 120 Bahadur.

The Masti series has seen fluctuating success over time. While the initial Masti (2004) and Grand Masti (2013) were significant hits, Great Grand Masti struggled, raising concerns about audience interest in a new sequel. Nonetheless, the team behind Mastiii 4 hoped that familiar characters, their chemistry, and established humor would rekindle viewer excitement.

On its opening day, the film garnered an approximate ₹2.50 crore, slightly surpassing 120 Bahadur, which collected ₹2.35 crore. Although Mastiii 4 claimed the higher earnings, both figures fell short of what was anticipated for a sequel. Industry analysts mention that the film’s success now relies on weekend traffic and positive word-of-mouth to boost its collection.

Meanwhile, De De Pyaar De 2 continues to exhibit significant consistency as it enters its second week. Featuring Ajay Devgn, Rakul Preet Singh, and R Madhavan, it earned ₹2.25 crore on Friday, a figure closely aligning with the opening day earnings of both new films. This indicates robust audience retention and a wider appeal.

With several films vying for viewer attention, the box office is likely to reflect clearer patterns over the weekend. The challenge for Mastiii 4 remains whether the franchise's established brand and nostalgia can convert into enhanced earnings as the days progress.
