The latest in the adult comedy series, Mastiii 4, is on track for its theatrical debut on 21 November after receiving certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). To earn an ‘A’ certificate on 17 November, the board mandated various edits, focusing on visual and dialogue adjustments.
Among the changes, a nine-second scene depicting animal behavior had to be cut, alongside a 30-second close-up of human faces. Additionally, several dialogue lines were modified to adhere to certification standards, replacing the term behen (sister), altering item in another line, and changing a brand name associated with alcohol in a specific scene. These revisions aim to align the film with censorship expectations while upholding its comedic essence.
Directed by Milap Milan Zaveri, Mastiii 4 brings back familiar faces from the franchise: Vivek Oberoi, Ritesh Deshmukh, and Aftab Shivdasani, marking Aftab's first role in six years. The film also stars Elnaaz Norouzi, Shreya Sharma, and Ruhi Singh, with cameos from Genelia D’Souza, Arshad Warsi, and Nargis Fakhri.
The Masti franchise started in 2004 with the first installment, Masti, directed by Indra Kumar, which performed modestly well, earning ₹34 crore. The 2013 sequel, Grand Masti, was a massive hit, grossing over ₹150 crore globally. While the third entry, Great Grand Masti (2016), didn’t achieve the same level of success, Mastiii 4 aims to continue the tradition of adult humor with a blend of returning and fresh faces.
