Meghan Markle is gearing up for her big screen comeback with a cameo in the comedy film Close Personal Friends.
The Duchess of Sussex, aged 44, is known for her role as Rachel Zane in the television series Suits, and will portray herself in this upcoming movie.
Close Personal Friends boasts an impressive cast, featuring Lily Collins, Jack Quaid, Brie Larson, Henry Golding, Natasia Demetriou, Patti Harrison, and Dustin Demri-Burn. Filming is currently underway in Los Angeles, where Markle has been seen on-set in Pasadena, California, wearing sunglasses and being driven in a Range Rover.
The storyline revolves around a couple who meets a celebrity duo while vacationing in Santa Barbara, leading to comedic situations as boundaries blur.
Prior to her marriage to Prince Harry in 2018, Markle appeared in several films, including Get Him to the Greek, Remember Me, and Horrible Bosses. After stepping back from royal duties in 2020, the couple relocated to the United States, launching various initiatives, including their media company, Archewell Productions, and Netflix projects.
In August, Prince Harry and Markle expanded their partnership with Netflix and Archewell Productions with a multiyear, first-look deal. “My husband and I feel inspired by our partners who collaborate with us to create meaningful content that resonates worldwide,” Markle stated.
Archewell Productions has produced documentaries for Netflix, such as Harry & Meghan, Polo, Heart of Invictus, and Live to Lead. Upcoming projects include the second season of With Love, Meghan, along with a lifestyle focus and a special holiday episode in December.
The company is also set to adapt Carley Fortune’s novel Meet Me at the Lake, which tells a love story over a decade marked by a chance encounter and a broken promise. Fortune described the collaboration as “a tremendous personal challenge” and “truly incredible” to see her work acknowledged.
This appearance marks Meghan Markle’s first scripted performance since stepping back from acting, heralding a new phase in her creative collaboration with Netflix and Archewell Productions.
