The finale of The Golden Bachelor’s Season 2 featured Mel Owens wrapping up his experience without a formal proposal. The 66-year-old ex-NFL player awarded his last rose on Wednesday, November 12, to Peg Munson in Antigua after Cindy opted to exit the show, expressing uncertainty about Mel’s intentions.
Cindy chose to leave prior to the Fantasy Suite, feeling that Mel was not prepared for a serious relationship. She voiced her concerns that despite having multiple opportunities to share deeper emotions, he consistently suggested that he wouldn’t be ready for engagement for several years. “I’m seeking someone who can’t envision life without me, and I didn’t feel that from him,” Cindy remarked.
Mel then disclosed to Peg that she was the sole woman left in contention. Peg subsequently met Mel's family, which includes his sons, and described them as “truly wonderful.”
During the final rose presentation, Mel gifted Peg a ring. He made it clear that this was not a proposal but rather a sign of their commitment to continue exploring their future together. Peg conveyed her faith in Mel, highlighting her appreciation for his honesty and the connection they had cultivated. Mel stated that the ring “symbolizes our commitment to love and gives us the time to navigate what our future may hold together.”
