Mumbai Dominates to Claim the Lead in Baseball United

Post by : Meena Hassan

Mumbai has achieved the top position in the inaugural season of Baseball United, following a commanding victory against Mid East. Lord de Vera excelled with a 3-for-4 batting performance along with two RBIs, while Miguel Ojeda’s two-run homer in the second inning kickstarted Mumbai’s scoring.

Chander Woolridge made a significant impact with a flawless 2.1 innings of relief, not allowing any hits or runs and striking out four. This strong pitching effort was supported by Chase Gearing (2.2 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 4 SO), Akshay More (1.2 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 3 SO), Brandon Kaminer (1.1 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 1 BB), and closer Akeel Morris (1.0 IP, 0 ER, 1 BB, 1 SO), clinching the win.

Mumbai’s batting lineup shone with Gedionne Marlin (2-for-5, triple, 2 runs, 1 RBI), Brantley Bell (2-for-3), and Manuel Ascanio (1-for-3, 2 runs). This victory places Mumbai at the top of the regular season standings with a 6-3 record, as they await the second-place team emerging from the Mid East vs. Arabia face-off for the United Series.

Mid East saw contributions from Shuhei Fukuda and Hiroyuki Nakajima (both 2-for-3, each scoring 1 RBI), along with Munenori Kawasaki (2-for-4, 1 run, 1 RBI). Haru Yoshioka suffered the loss after conceding eight hits, a home run, and five earned runs over three innings. Other contributing pitchers were Shotaro Kasahara, Shotaro Nakata, Kodai Hamaya, Shingo Hirata, and Severino González.
