The Police Command of Muscat Governorate, working with the Directorate General of Inquiries and Criminal Investigations, arrested two tourists of European nationality for stealing jewellery worth around RO 1 million. The arrest followed a report of a major theft from a jewellery store in the Muscat Governorate.
According to police investigations, the two suspects entered the Sultanate of Oman on a tourist visa and stayed at a hotel close to jewellery shops in the Al Ghubra area. During their stay, they carefully observed the surroundings and planned the robbery in an organized manner. Authorities said the suspects used this time to study the location and movements around the store before carrying out the crime.
Police reports revealed that the robbery took place at around 4:00 am. The suspects broke into the store by damaging the back wall using a mechanical demolition tool. After entering the shop, they stole large quantities of jewellery, broke open the safe, and also took the cash kept inside. The total value of the stolen items was estimated at about RO 1 million.
Following detailed inquiries and tracking, police officers successfully identified and arrested the suspects. During the investigation, authorities also located the tools used in the crime. Most of the stolen jewellery theft items were recovered after police discovered that the suspects had hidden them on a beach in the A’Sifah area. The jewellery had been transported to the location by boat in an attempt to avoid detection.
Oman Police confirmed that all legal procedures are being completed and the suspects have been referred to the competent authorities. The case highlights the efficiency of Muscat Police and their efforts to maintain public safety and protect businesses across the Sultanate.
