In a strategic move to bolster economic interactions, Dubai has initiated the Cyprus Business Council under the auspices of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce. This council serves as a structured environment for businesses, investidores, and innovators from Cyprus and the UAE to connect, share insights, and investigate investment prospects.
This initiative marks a further consolidation of Dubai's status as a vital international business center for Cypriot firms. By 2024, non-oil trade between the two regions reached an impressive AED 588 million, signaling a persistent rise in commercial activities. As of the end of Q3 2025, the Dubai Chamber reported that 612 Cypriot companies had been registered as members, with 71 new registrations recorded within the initial nine months of the year.
The council's first Annual General Meeting saw the participation of significant figures, such as His Excellency George Papanastasiou, Cyprus’ Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry, alongside representatives from the UAE Ministry of Economy and Tourism. This event reinforced the dedication of both countries to cultivate lasting partnerships while exploring avenues for technology exchanges, joint ventures, and sustainable development.
Designed to enable practical collaboration, the Cyprus Business Council aims to unlock viable business prospects. It ensures that Cypriot firms can not only grow within Dubai but also tap into broader regional and international markets, utilizing Dubai's strategic position and advanced infrastructure.
The establishment of this council also integrates into Dubai Chamber's extensive network of Business Councils, which advocate for the interests of businesses across various markets. These councils play a pivotal role in fostering bilateral trade and investment, supporting the growth of solid and advantageous economic relations that enhance Dubai's reputation as a global business nexus.
