Noah Schnapp, recognized globally as a child star from Netflix's hit series Stranger Things, is reflecting on his emotional journey as the show approaches its fifth and final season. With maturity, Noah acknowledges that this closing chapter stirs profound feelings, given the significant impact the series has had on his career and personal life.
One of the most cherished aspects of his experience has been the close friendship he shares with Millie Bobby Brown, who plays Eleven. Their bond, which began in their teenage years amid sudden fame, has evolved into a sibling-like relationship filled with trust and understanding.
Drawing parallels between their roles and real lives, Noah comments, “What I love is their loyalty to one another. On-screen, we’re portrayed as siblings, and we often joke about being triplets. Millie is truly like a sibling to me, both on and off the screen.”
He expresses deep respect for Millie’s honesty, stating that her advice is the one he genuinely trusts. “When others offer suggestions, I often question their motives, but with Millie, I know she speaks the truth. She has this calming energy that connects me to my true self.”
Noah acknowledges Millie's role in helping him preserve his curiosity and innocence, which can easily diminish in the entertainment industry. “In this world, it’s easy to become jaded, losing that child-like spark. Millie consistently reminds me of that wide-eyed kid still within me.”
Facing the scrutiny of growing up in the spotlight presents challenges that few teenagers encounter. He remembers how young actors cope with teasing among friends, while he was subject to global attention. Details of his life—like his sexuality—became topics of public discussion prematurely.
He confesses that the pressure to appear mature and composed was often overwhelming. “When you’re in a small town, only friends tease you. But under the scrutiny of millions, expectations heighten. It’s as if you’re supposed to have everything figured out when you're still discovering yourself.”
Despite the emotional toll, Noah emphasizes that the experience was not entirely negative. Bonds formed with other young actors, including Millie, Finn Wolfhard, and Caleb McLaughlin, provided a supportive environment where they could share their pressures and triumphs together, easing the journey.
“It was certainly challenging, yet also rewarding,” he notes. “While scrutiny sometimes chipped away at my confidence, my co-stars were pivotal in restoring it. Growing with them kept me grounded.”
As Stranger Things nears its conclusion, Noah carries a mix of nostalgia and gratitude. The series has not only shaped his career but also influenced his character and relationships. While bidding farewell evokes strong emotions, he remains appreciative of the path taken and the companions he encountered along the way.
