Oman and Bangladesh have been close friends for a long time. Their relationship is based on mutual respect, peace, and cooperation. Recently, this strong friendship took another step forward when Oman’s new Ambassador to Bangladesh, Jameel Haji Al Balushi, officially started his job. He did this by presenting his credentials to the President of Bangladesh, Mohammed Shahabuddin, at a special ceremony held at the Presidential Palace in Dhaka.

This event was not just about starting a new job. It was also about celebrating 50 years of diplomatic relations between Oman and Bangladesh. Both sides showed great respect and kindness, and they talked about working together even more in the future.

The Official Meeting

At the start of the ceremony, Ambassador Al Balushi gave his official papers, called credentials, to President Shahabuddin. This is a tradition in diplomacy. When a new ambassador starts working in a country, he or she presents credentials to the head of state to show that they are officially sent by their government.

During the meeting, both leaders shared greetings, kind words, and hopes for the future. It was a friendly and respectful moment that showed how strong the relationship is between the two countries.

A Message from His Majesty Sultan Haitham

Ambassador Al Balushi also delivered a special message from His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the leader of Oman. The Sultan sent his greetings and best wishes to the government and people of Bangladesh.

He said that he wishes peace, development, and progress for Bangladesh. His Majesty also said he hopes to see the friendly ties between Oman and Bangladesh grow even stronger.

Bangladesh President’s Warm Response

President Mohammed Shahabuddin gave a warm welcome to the new ambassador. He sent back his greetings to His Majesty Sultan Haitham and said that Oman is a respected and friendly country.

The president spoke about the strong and long-standing relationship between the two nations. He said that the people of Bangladesh have always seen Oman as a good friend and partner. He also shared his hope for deeper ties and better cooperation in the coming years.

50 Years of Diplomatic Relations

The most special part of the meeting was that it came at a very important time—the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Oman and Bangladesh. For five decades, both countries have worked together in many areas, such as

  • Trade and business

  • Labor and employment

  • Culture and education

  • Politics and diplomacy

President Shahabuddin said he was pleased that this important visit happened during such a meaningful occasion. He praised Oman’s efforts to maintain a peaceful and friendly relationship throughout the years.

Oman’s Role in Global Peace

The President also praised Oman’s positive role in world affairs. He said that Oman always works for peace and stability in the region and the world. Oman is known for staying neutral and solving problems through dialogue and understanding, not through conflict.

Under the leadership of Sultan Haitham, Oman has continued to help bring peace to the Middle East and support good relations between countries. Bangladesh respects and values Oman’s efforts in this area.

A Strong Focus on Future Cooperation

After talking about the past, both leaders turned their attention to the future. Ambassador Al Balushi said that Oman is committed to working more closely with Bangladesh in several important areas.

He said both countries can work together in

  • Energy and petroleum products

  • Minerals and raw materials

  • Pharmaceuticals and medical supplies

  • Technology and industrial growth

The ambassador explained that Oman sees Bangladesh as a trusted economic partner, and there are many opportunities to grow this partnership.

Investments and Special Economic Zones

One important topic discussed was investment. Ambassador Al Balushi said Oman is very interested in investing in Bangladesh, especially in special economic zones (SEZs). These are areas that offer businesses tax benefits, faster approvals, and good infrastructure.

He also said Bangladeshi investors are welcome in Oman and that both countries can build joint projects to create jobs and help the economies grow.

By working together, the ambassador said Oman and Bangladesh can build stronger trade links and support each other’s growth.

Helping People from Both Countries

The ambassador also talked about the people-to-people connection between Oman and Bangladesh. He said it is important to increase cooperation in education, tourism, training, and job opportunities.

Many Bangladeshi people work in Oman, and they are an important part of the country’s workforce. The ambassador said that Oman will continue to protect the rights of these workers and support more cooperation in labor and training programs.

He also said cultural exchanges, student exchange programs, and tourism can help the two countries understand and respect each other even more.

A Shared Vision for Development

Ambassador Al Balushi said Oman and Bangladesh share the same goals—both want peace, economic progress, and a better future for their people.

He said the two countries can share ideas, support each other in global issues, and work together to fight problems like climate change, poverty, and unemployment.

With strong leadership in both countries and a long history of cooperation, the ambassador said he is confident that the best days of the Oman-Bangladesh partnership are still to come.

In his closing remarks, Ambassador Jameel Haji Al Balushi said he is honored to represent Oman in Bangladesh. He said he will do everything he can to make the friendship between the two countries stronger.

He thanked the president for the warm welcome and said he looks forward to meeting people from all walks of life in Bangladesh—government officials, business leaders, students, and everyday citizens.
