New Brunswick Man Charged in Violent Stabbing on Durham Avenue

Post by : Meena Hassan

Peter Fragoso, a 29-year-old resident of New Brunswick, has been charged with attempted murder following a stabbing that occurred at a residence on Durham Avenue on December 3. He is currently detained at the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center facing significant charges, including first-degree attempted murder, two counts of weapon possession, and criminal obstruction.

Police reports indicate the stabbing occurred around 7:30 p.m. on December 3. Officers arriving at the scene found a 23-year-old man from Long Branch suffering from several knife wounds. The victim was quickly taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick for immediate medical attention. Authorities have classified his injuries as serious, though no updates on his condition have been released.

The case is being investigated by Detectives Robert Ring and Stephanie Redline, who collaborated to identify Fragoso as the suspect. He was arrested the following day, December 4, and is set for arraignment in state Superior Court on December 12.

Officials urge the public to assist the investigation by providing any further information regarding the incident. Anyone with details is encouraged to contact Detective Ring at (732) 632-8501 or Detective Redline at (732) 745-3316. Community cooperation is considered vital in ensuring a thorough investigation into such incidents.

It is important to remember that Fragoso, like all accused individuals, is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The seriousness of the charges he faces will lead the case through the justice system, where evidence will be carefully scrutinized.

This incident has raised alarms in the community, known for its peaceful residential neighborhoods. Residents are being advised to stay alert and to report any unusual activities to local law enforcement to maintain safety.

The investigation into this stabbing incident is ongoing, and police will provide updates as they become available.
