Prince William and Kate Middleton stepped back onto the red carpet for the first time in two years during the annual Royal Variety Performance, held at London’s Royal Albert Hall on November 19. This prestigious event supports the Royal Variety Charity, dedicated to assisting entertainment industry professionals.
This was the couple’s sixth appearance at the Royal Variety Performance and marked their first red-carpet moment since November 2023. The Princess of Wales dazzled in a green velvet gown featuring short sleeves and a V-neck, while Prince William complemented her attire with a velvet suit jacket and a black bow tie.
Welsh singer Katherine Jenkins performed the national anthem to welcome the royals, and during the occasion, Kate also met fellow cancer survivor Jessie J.
The Princess of Wales made limited public appearances over the past year while undergoing cancer treatment, having completed chemotherapy in September 2024. On her return to the event, she said, “It’s so nice to be back,” reflecting on the importance of her public reappearance following her recovery.
In a delightful exchange, the royal couple met Paddington Bear, and nine-year-old twins, Emelie and Olivia Edwards, handed Middleton a bouquet. She inquired if they liked Paddington, sharing that her children—George, Charlotte, and Louis—would be upset they missed seeing the beloved bear, joking, “We are going to have to keep it a big secret.”
The return of Prince William and Kate to the public eye showcases their dedication to charitable efforts and signifies a significant milestone in Middleton’s health saga, embodying resilience, hope, and the continuance of royal duties.
